From an initial google search “Clay Pigeon Shooting Near London” I came across the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA) website. After a good read, I had made my mind up to try clay pigeon shooting.

Clay Target Events Clubs online store was easy to navigate and provided great advice and guidance for me to understand what package would suit me. I selected the date and time I wanted, and received confirmation via an email and a calendar invite. The night before I even received an email reminder telling what time my clay pigeon shooting session was on.
No experience needed
I had never tried it before but friends told me it was like golf, but more fun. I never really got into golf so I had high hopes for clay pigeon shooting. It took me 25 minutes to drive from North London to the shooting club, so it was very near me. There was onsite car parking and even a cafe.
Introduction to Clay Pigeon Shooting
Once I had met my clay shooting instructor, we went through gun handling and safety. The hat, safety glasses, gun, cartridges and clays were all provided to me. I wore trainers, jeans and a jumper, so nothing special for this day.
After shooting 30 clays I paid for another 20 shots (the clay pigeon prices were reasonable). From reading the package descriptions from the online shop I made the decision to go for a small number of shots, with the understanding I could add more on the day if I enjoyed it. To be honest, I would love to have fired more shots, but after 50 I was knackered. When you concentrate and focus for an hour it soon tires you out (when you try you will understand).
Verdict
It was a great day and I really enjoyed my clay pigeon experience and would recommend anyone to try a clay pigeon shoot day.
Golf was never a sport I got into, just hitting a ball with a stick, but shooting clay certainly ticked all the boxes. I would really recommend trying this once. There is no way you won’t like it, the danger is you will like it too much and will come back for more like I have. I come each month now and do the 60 shot package, as i feel this is the best value for money.
